The Perfect Sugar Cookie Recipe: How to Achieve a Soft and Chewy Texture

Ingredients
  

  • Cups Butter room temperature
  • Cups Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Cups All Purpose Flour
  • tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (***If you are making these the same day, save this step for after all ingredients are mixed to allow for hydration time.)
  • Cream butter and sugar for 2 minutes, scrap sides of bowl. Continue beating for another 2 minutes, scrap sides of bowl. Continue beating for 2 more minutes.
  • Beat eggs in small bowl and add vanilla extract. Mix together.
  • Add egg mixture to the butter mixture slowly while mixing on medium low speed until well blended.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients to the butter mixture until well blended.
  • By a 1 oz scoop, roll dough into extra sugar and then place on cookie sheet. Lightly press with a flat glass.
  • Bake the cookies for 10 minutes, cooking times may vary. Watch to see if the bottoms are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies sit for 1 minute then transfer to a cooling rack.
