At our house we have a few standbys that end up in the rotation pretty much every week. Tacos are one of them. I am excited to share some of our favorites with you. I’m starting this week with the basic beef taco. It’s simple and tasty and pairs well with my salsa.
I know, you can buy a kit that will have shells and seasoning. Why bother making beef tacos on your own? Well, for one thing, you are able to adjust the salt. I’m not against salt. In fact, I am a HUGE fan of salt but I understand that sometimes being able to tone it down is not a bad thing.

When making it yourself, you are also keeping out the ‘junk’ ingredients. There are so many junk additives when you buy a pre-prepared. On the one hand, I get it. We are making tacos. This isn’t exactly the healthiest of dishes. On the other hand, why can’t we make our ‘junk’ food the healthiest it can be.
As you read the recipe, know that with anything, the longer you cook the deeper the flavors. If you are able to cook this one for more than 30 minutes, you can add extra broth or water.
We keep these pretty traditional with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The beef is also perfect in enchilladas with my Chili Con Carne Sauce. If you are going this route, I would use corn tortillas and lightly fry. Top with the chili and cheese. They are very good this way as well.
Enjoy your taco Tuesday!
